Dr Kumar Ravi (KRV) is one of the founding members of Glaucoma Department at Netralayam (The Superspeciality Eye Care Centre). He is also associated with BB Eye Foundation VIP as Glaucoma and Cataract Consultant. He was earlier associated with Sankara Nethralaya as a faculty member.
Dr KRV has done his masters in Ophthalmology from the Minto Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Bangalore Medical College, Bangalore. He did his long-term Fellowship in Glaucoma and Anterior Segment at the L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad.
Dr KRV has been actively involved in training of Undergraduate, Post graduates and Ophthalmology Fellows. He is recipient of multiple scholarships and appreciations including Gold medal in his MBBS. He has multiple publications in International and National journals of repute and has made contribution to many Ophthalmology books.
He has showcased his research works at leading international forums like American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), World Glaucoma Congress (WGC), Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO), and Asia Pacific Association of Refractive Surgeons (APACRS). He is a life member of All India Ophthalmological Society and Glaucoma Society of India and a regular participant at national and state conferences and training programmes.
Dr KRV is a comprehensive care giver for all eye related problems. His areas of interest include medical and surgical management of complex glaucoma cases including paediatric glaucoma. He is equally proficient in handling cataract surgery by laser, phacoemulsification and manual methods.
Presently Dr KRV is actively involved in developing low cost imaging devices and recording instruments with use of mobile phone in clinics and operation theatre. He believes in use of modern technology in patient care and is working on paperless clinic of future and is active in development of App based eye care, Tele medicine, and application of Artificial Intelligence(AI) in eye care.
